Their blogs are different looking now. When this post was first published, they were extremely similar in design and layout. Twanna has every right to protect her brand. Blogging and promoting yourself is an extremely difficult and time consuming task to undertake. Having someone come in with a very similar name, url, design, and content is basically a lazy attempt to take away search traffic that shes spent a lot of time and money to build. Her frustration is completely understandable.

Also, you're entitled to your opinion regarding Twanna's work, but your comments would have at least held some validity had you of not taken the low road by calling her names.

your blogs are completely different...if anything I would think funky black chick would not want people to confuse herself with your blog not the other way around. You talk about absolutely nothing and you are homely. And like someone else has stated, black and brown are two different colors. Wow you bloggers really need to get a life.

I'm so glad this finally came to light. For all the people saying for Twanna not to blog about it, I know that as a blogger, the things that most inspire me to write or blog are things that are important to me, things that affect me, things that matter. The idea that Twanna shouldn't write about this is problematic to me.

I don't think the post is an oxymoron. First of all, Twanna is speaking about this very topic at SXSW. Secondly, it's a lesson for those setting out to build your brand - that even if you follow all the rules (trademark your name, etc.), you can still be caught off guard with little recourse.

And it's really not about who's a better writer or blogger. There's nothing wrong with this woman having a blog; the problem is the way in which she went about it, which in my opinion clearly tried to mimic and make use of the more well-known name "Funky Brown Chick." I was there when a well-known Internet personality mistook the two, so it has happened.

considering that you've asked for privacy in the matter...how would people have actually found out about the law suit? as much as I've been a lurker on your site, whomever is your attorney should have had the knowledge to advise you not to even blog about it, unless you're aim is to garner cheerleaders? so this post is definitely an oxymoron...but in any event...good luck.

I don't think you really have anything to worry about. The site is on a restricted server. I couldn't even get to it.

Besides, people come here (or anywhere in cyberspace) for the product, the atmosphere, the ambiance. If you have it, no need to worry.

This is unfortunate -- and a huge pain in the ass. I'm sorry you have to deal with all of that. But on a positive note, you'll have some really good material to draw from when you present on the SXSW panel about protecting your brand!

I agree with Jolie: your impostor lacks your intelligence and does not write well enough to be published anywhere else.

This reminds me of an Israeli fellow named Nissan (one of the months in the Jewish calendar and a common given name) who lost his domain name nissan.com and a copyright infringement law suit to the Japanese car company.

But her brand is dubious, and your case has merit. Good luck!

First of all - I've never heard of her until now. By talking about her here you've brought attention to her blog. That's not what you want - is it? Second, although I agree with her views on Palin and Obama, her blog doesn't compare to yours.

It's good that you're suing her, but I doubt that it matters. A blog is just a blog. What makes a blog special is the person behind it. She doesn't have your humor or your intelligence and readers know that, so.....
