And, I seriously mean it when I say that I *LOVE* that man for not selling out and/or sucking on the corporate cow's tit. He's a great man.

Re: Free Tickets to the Freakshow!!!

Craiglist is present in 310 cities of the world and journalists at $10 million estimated its revenue for 2004. Good work, is not it?

Re: Free Tickets to the Freakshow!!!

Yeah, it's weird, right? It's like Craigslist takes on different flavors in different cities. For example, in Chicago, people don't normally use Craigslist to find apartments. That's what the >Reader is for ... and, besides, Chicago has all of those "For Rent" signs everywhere. In New York, you never really see "For Rent" signs and, of course, there's no Reader. Ahhhh, I miss the Reader.

Re: Free Tickets to the Freakshow!!!

The Belfast Craigslist postings are an assortment of people looking for sex and Americans looking for entertainment/information/sex. It hasn't really caught on over here. I like reading the New York and San Francisco posts. Hilarious. Stolie, I hope the new job works out!

Re: Free Tickets to the Freakshow!!!

I certainly hope so!! :)

Re: Free Tickets to the Freakshow!!!

I LOVE THAT RAVE!

Funny, it was exactly what I needed to see right now... $100 says, a year from now, we're both right here, doing fine.

:D

Re: Free Tickets to the Freakshow!!!

momok: Ohhhh, you're blocked from Craigslist??? :( And, by the way, the banana in the miniskirt thing isn't as scary as you'd think it would be. I have a friend who cross-dresses. But, then again ... I've never seen him in a mini-skirt ... and I've never seen his banana.

Darwin: I love this city. If life continues to cooperate with me, I'm going stick around here for a little while. And, if I were a rich woman, I would throw a "Stolie Nation Party" and invite all of you to come to New York for a weekend on my dime.

Re: Free Tickets to the Freakshow!!!

That was so funny, I laughed so much and actually read some bits out to a friend on the phone!

You've seriously made me want to live there at some point in my life for at least a few years! Ah the free entertainment! I wish I knew all this before I came there for just one random weekend (the only time I've ever been to NYC). You have to do this more!

Re: Free Tickets to the Freakshow!!!

Arg.. It certainly has its flaws, but I don't think you could ever say that it's a boring place to live ... Oh, and, THANKS for the congrats!!! :)

Mel Chickk: Oh, you should *TOTALLY* check it out. There's a Craigslist site for almost every major city in the US and abroad.

Re: Free Tickets to the Freakshow!!!

Craigslist sounds like it would be an interesting read. I'm all for the madness of the moment :)

Oh, and Stolie: Another Yeah! to your job. The "research" wasn't too hard -- many of those posts had already made it to their "Best Of" list for New York. (By the way, they also have a "Best Of" list for Denver; you should check it out!) Some of the "free rent" posts for New York were so good that they've made they way to the pages of Time Magazine. New York is special.

AmyD: That tribute is one of my favorites. I, like the woman who wrote that post, left Chicago to come to New York. I don't know that woman, but it's clear that (for whatever reason) she went back to Chicago. I can't go back because, if I did, I'd probably feel exactly like she felt when she wrote that Craiglist post. I'd miss New York if I ever left it.

Re: Free Tickets to the Freakshow!!!

Awww! I LOVED that tribute to NYC...makes me kinda wish I lived there (or had at one point), even though I seriously don't think I could hack it.

And that ad asking for new upstairs neighbors...Classic! I have one of those myself, so it was both hilarious and way too close to home for me. :o)

And again, congrats on the job!! Yay!

Re: Free Tickets to the Freakshow!!!

LOL!
